SpareThought documentation

SpareThought keeps handwriting editable across journals, meeting notebooks and ToDos. These engineering docs explain the implementation, its decisions, and the boundaries of the available evidence.

Follow a note through the app

When the user opens a journal, the app loads the page’s persisted ink and presents it through g-paper. Writing changes the editing session; automatic local saving then makes those edits durable. Saving does not itself authorize an upload. When the user requests Sync, leaves the page or switches notebooks, accumulated changes become eligible for background upload. Receiving devices verify and apply the changed ink while protecting active edits.

Read the note architecture for the detailed opening, rendering, saving, batching, conflict and recovery paths, including concrete "when the user does X" examples and Mermaid diagrams.

Use the search field to find headings and content across these pages. Search runs in your browser with the Antora Lunr extension; it does not send queries to a service.
